Vintage Style Baby Boy Nursery Reveal
I have been so excited to share with you the baby’s nursery! But it seemed like bad luck to show off the room before the baby made his debut. But he’s here, and so now is the time!
If you remember it wasn’t that long ago that this room was my office/craft room. In fact, it was just this past August that I finished this room makeover. You can see my office makeover here. But just to refresh your memory, this is what my office looked like after the makeover.
Of course, when I found out I was pregnant I quickly realized that my new office was going to have to become the nursery. At first I was kind of bummed. I loved my new office/crafting space. But as my plans came together, the excitement for this space started to build. I moved my office into the guest room (that reveal is coming soon!) But here is the vision I had for the nursery.
I wanted this space to be masculine with vintage style. But not babyish. I love rooms that can grow and change with little ones without being committed to one theme. I think this fit the bill. I also wanted to re-use many of the items I had either in my office or in my house already, including the Crate and Barrel Knockoff Gray and White Striped Rug that I painted and the same wall colors that I originally painted for my office.
I love the way this room turned out! Even before the baby arrived, I would sit in the white lounge chair and rest and look around and enjoy this space. For a vintage style baby boy nursery, consider having armchairs and lounge chairs to evoke a cozy and timeless ambiance.
This room was seriously put together on a budget. I didn’t buy anything new, other than the bedding for the crib and a few accessories. Everything else was repurposed from other rooms in my home. You can see how we made the frame for the vintage map here.
This crib was a freebie from a friend. It was a dark brown color and I painted it gray.
I found the marquee light at Hobby Lobby and it was in the clearance section. I was pretty sure we were going to name the baby Beau but not 100%. I needed to see him to make sure that was really his name. But I bought the B anyway and spray painted it gold.
I had this bookcase in my office before I gave it a makeover. Then it moved outside to my furniture stash. My plan was to paint it and sell it eventually. But I must have been holding on to it for a reason! It made its way back into the house and into the nursery.
Before I found out I was pregnant, I cleaned out my older boys’ book shelves and gathered all the baby books to donate. They ended up sitting in the attic for awhile. I’m so glad I didn’t end up donating them. I mixed them in with a vintage style locker basket that I found at Homegoods. I also added some vintage pictures of school boys. I love how serious they look. And I added some vintage accessories. More baskets for storage and my Dollar Store Vintage Style Lockers Bins complete the look.
And what baby boy nursery would be complete without some sports accessories?
I moved my Penmanship Poster from Cavallini Papers and Co. from the living room to the nursery.
I realize this baby won’t be needing a desk for some time. But the desk I bought at Target for my sewing machine was just a perfect fit for this space.
My husband made this lamp out of PVC pipe and it was super easy and inexpensive compared to metal pipe lamps. I’m hoping I can get him to make another one so I can take some pictures and give you a tutorial on it.
I found this Mid Century Modern dresser and it’s matching high boy dresser in front of a neighbor’s house with a free sign. I have a growing love for Mid Century Modern furniture. And I love a good Mid Century piece with a stained finish. But this piece was in pretty rough shape. I opted to paint it for now, but I might go back someday and strip it and refinish it.
The barn lights are from Lowes and my husband rewired them to plug in. Now they are connected to the main light switch so they go on when you flip the switch and I have them on a dimmer.
Love those gold legs!
The chaise lounge chair is from Ikea and it was in my family room. And nobody ever used it, ever! Other than the dog. I have used it more in the last 3 weeks than I have in the entire time I have owned that chair. It just needed to be in the right spot!
I love this Peter Pan quote! It’s so true. It’s the reason I typed this blog post with one hand while holding Beau in the other arm. I just can’t bear to put him to bed! Hope you liked the nursery. I’ll giving you more details in future posts so stop back soon!

This is such a fabulous room since you stuck with your style and didn’t follow the idea of having to have a room plastered with cartoon characters and painted baby blue. All the little touches that you put into the space like the Peter Pan quote make it all so special. Beau is a lucky little boy!

Love the room! It’s so light and playful. Question: your Ikea chair… is that a white slipcover or is it beige?

Thanks! It’s a white slipcover.

I know you’re in the middle of moving and new baby, but I trying to track down the barn lights you have in the nursery. Are they outdoor lights? Did you find them in the lighting section or on line? I can’t find them at my store. Do you happen to have a model number or some identifying information so they could help me find them? Thank for your help! Safe travels to your new location!

Hi, it’s no trouble. They are the Hampton Bay 1 light Outdoor Zinc Wall Lantern. My husband rewired them for me though so that I could plug them in instead of being hardwired into the wall. Here is the link for them online http://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampton-Bay-1-Light-Outdoor-Zinc-Wall-Lantern-HSP1691A/203273428?MERCH=REC-_-NavPLPHorizontal1_rr-_-NA-_-203273428-_-N And they are only $30 each!!!
