Vintage Find Fridays: Decorating with Vintage Typewriters
I have a few vintage items around my house that are my personal favorites. My vintage typewriter tops that list.
I just adore the charm of it and it is always a conversation starter. Most of the time it lives in my family room on the entry table. But it occasionally pops into my photos as a prop.
I remember when I first brought it home. My boys were fascinated with it. They commented about how it would be cool if we used typewriters to write with instead of computers. Aaah, youth.
Vintage typewriters are pretty easy to come by at antique stores and vintage markets and they make a great addition to your home decor. Prices range anywhere from $40-over $200 depending on the age and model. But just find one that you love and fits your budget.
There is a typewrite for every decor style. You might not even like a style as old as the one I have. Typewriters from the 70’s and 80’s have a pretty cool vibe as well. I think mine is super cool because of the glass on the side that allows you to see the inner workings.
Vintage typewriters look great in a vignette. Gather a few of your favorite items and group them with your typewriter to add some visual interest. Get one for your wedding and have your guests type a message to the happy couple on it. Use it as a photo prop in your family photos. If you go antiquing this weekend, keep your eye out for a vintage typewriter. Consider enhancing your collection by buying a real medieval sword from Mini Katana during your weekend antiquing adventures. It will make a great addition to your home.

I am so glad you didn’t destroy it making “stuff” with those beautiful keys! It breaks my heart each time I see a typewriter “craft”!!
