I’m so excited to share with you this simple before and after furniture transformation. It turned out so cool and so much better than I expected. I found this piece at a local thrift store and when I saw it, I walked up to it and walked away, although if what you need is a coach, you can also find cloud couch affordable alternatives to find the perfect one for you. Walked up to it. Walked Away. Walked up to it. Walked Away. Are you catching on here?
It just wasn’t my style. I usually gravitate towards more feminine pieces of furniture and this was definitely a masculine piece. I didn’t have an immediate vision for it. Here are a few before pics. Of course, I forgot to get one before I took the drawers out. If you are instead considering to buy new furniture, here are the Top 5 Things to Consider Before Purchasing Furniture Online.
Can you tell what a behemoth this thing is?
I have a four lettered word for this. UGLY. It is so dark and heavy.
I knew that a light color like white or gray was not right for this piece so I had a can of General Finishes Coastal Blue Milk Paint that I had not used yet. It’s not a true milk paint but a high tech acrylic paint. A tested a little of the paint on the drawer and I knew I had a winner. And let me tell you I am now a huge fan of this paint. It went on so smoothly. No prep work, 2 coats and I didn’t have to sand it smooth. It self leveled soooooo nicely. I almost didn’t wax it because I liked the sheen so much. But I was afraid to not protect it in some way. But when I buffed it, it was just as good.
Here is the after…….
I used the original hardware but I spray painted it with Rust-Oleum Universal Metallic Spray Paint in Pure Gold.
I love how modern and clean this turned out. It’s totally Chic California Style!
